Seeing green.
While living in Santa Cruz in 2013 as a student, I bought a poster of the Portland Japanese Garden and hung it near my desk so I could be transported somewhere I felt peaceful whenever needed. Five years later I was hired at the Portland Japanese Garden to help with PR and Communications the summer after they finished a 3.2 million dollar expansion by renowned Japanese architect, Kengo Kuma. As both an avid fan of the Garden and architecture, this was a watershed moment.
While there I promoted the expansion and conducted a health and wellness campaign on Shinrin Yoku, or “Forest Bathing”.
You can read the handout I wrote on Forest Bathing here.
